Kate Ives is a traditionally trained artist with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Her artistic journey has been enriched by her experiences living in Thailand, Singapore, England, and the US, with each location leaving its mark on her work. Kate’s versatility shines through in her use of mediums such as watercolor, gouache, acrylics, oils, and digital painting.
Driven by a desire to spread joy and positivity, she employs bright colors and whimsical subjects to make people smile and add a touch of lightheartedness to their day. Her work is exhibited in several locations in northern Vermont, including Citizen Cider in Burlington, the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Parker Pie in Glover, and is featured in the homes of collectors across Europe and the US. Kate is grateful to be supported by Holbein Art Materials and is particularly fond of their line of gouache paint. By choosing her medium based on her mood and the narrative she wishes to explore, Kate ensures that each piece offers a unique and uplifting experience. Her art invites viewers to embrace the playful and cheerful aspects of life.
Kate's art is entirely original. It is never enhanced with software programs. Every stroke is manual. She enjoys painting portraits, buildings, pets, and objects with unusual or unique perspectives. Take a look at some of the process videos where you can watch her create a digital painting stroke by stroke.
